Quick Look: 1992 Topps 1000 Yard Club GOLD Variations

16 Jan

Check out this rare look at one of the scarcer early-90’s insert sets produced; 1992 Topps 1000 Yard Club Gold was an unannounced parallel to the rack-issued insert. To this day, very little info is known about them such as how many were made and what their method of distribution was (though random rack insertion seems the most obvious).

The Barry Sanders card pictured below is the only copy of this parallel that I have ever seen in person:

I recently went through my collection and came across a Steve Beuerlein card in the ’92 Pro Set collection #145. The card is cut off center and the name reads “EVE BEUERLEIN. It’s not really a print error, but rather a cutting error. Would this have any value?

Only to miscut and/or Buerlein collectors.

There used to be an Art Monk football card collection website whic had an image of the Gold variation of the 1992 Topps 1000 yd club card for Art Monk. I remember the caption saying that the Gold variations were randomly inserted as part of the 20 bonus Gold cards found in each factory set. I can’t seem to find the site anymore. Prior to the Barry Sanders you posted, the Art Monk Gold variation was the only one I had ever seend.

I have the Emmitt gold, just wondering what’s it worth now.

I’d love to see it, please send a scan to: jacksoncoupage@yahoo.com. As far as pricing goes, this is not the site for that. Ebay completed sales and worthpoint are two places to start for that info.
