You are still missing a few varieties, one is card #87 Jari Kurri comes with and without the trade strip.

    • Dylan January 5, 2013 at 6:19 pm #

      Hi Claude,

There are several commonly-known variations missing and there are several yet to be discovered and added later. This is why it’s titled “ongoing checklist.” Thanks!

  2. Shawn January 20, 2013 at 8:28 am #

Woo hoo!!! Welcome back Jackson. I love this list. I have a photo of the borqu and Gillis if you need it.

    • Dylan January 23, 2013 at 11:08 am #

Thanks! I am 27 boxes deep into research here. With another 12 on the way. Adding new stuff to the list almost every day.

      • always on the hunt July 17, 2013 at 5:50 pm #

i am about 21 boxes in and just got a fresh case today. (series one only) i am opening up the case now. 6 boxes in, i am only missing the hull #1 with no line in corner gillis and #131. im going to venture and say that this is an error case.

  3. Shawn January 23, 2013 at 11:31 am #

I know I have a Mark Fortier and Teppo Numminen Red Blob cards somewhere. I just need to find them and send scans along.

I am going to go to a few local shops tomorrow and pick up some more boxes.

  4. Shawn January 28, 2013 at 2:23 pm #

Just pulled an upside down back of a bruins player. I will get the info too you. Also there are penguins players that have upside down backs as well. They are rarer than the all stars upside down backs. Thanks again for the updated list.

    • Dylan January 28, 2013 at 2:29 pm #

That’s right, I do need to add the Penguins variations. Please feel free to post additional 1990-91 Pro Set variations that I should add to the list. Thanks.

      • Bob Moore August 15, 2023 at 7:12 pm #

I just opened some old packs I bought 30 years ago for 14c each. Found a Bob Errey front with a Ray Borque error inverted back. You can add that to the Penguins variations.

      • Dylan November 22, 2023 at 1:40 pm #

Hi Bob, thanks for the comment but I do not count wrong backs as part of a master set. There are too many combos and the majority are from dumpster diving, not from packs (though some definitely are). That said, I know many Pro Set collectors who DO add them to their sets.

  5. Shawn January 29, 2013 at 6:32 pm #

    Dylan,

The upside down Bruin is #2 Dave Christinsen. Also I have some green tint North Stars and a heavy silver bleed on #381 Mark Messier. I was wondering if I could use your list when I post these to Ebay? I will be adding photos of everything that I can find. Let me know if that is okay with you or if I have to modify information.

  9. John May 11, 2013 at 9:07 pm #

I have some full uncut sheets of pro set football cards, but the backs are the backs of pro set hockey cards. Ever heard of, or seen that error/ variation? I can’t find anything online. Thanks.

  10. always on the hunt July 7, 2013 at 5:43 am #

I just opened a box with some of the (u) variations as well as the (r) variations. plus i think I might have found a few more. can anyone advise?

  12. Sam January 4, 2014 at 7:49 pm #

Hi.. I have a 1990 proset with John Vanbiesbrouck on the front & brett Hull on the back….Anybody heard of this one? Card # is 378 on the back. this is Bretts card #.

  13. Confuzion Melodicmizeryrecords March 13, 2014 at 12:06 pm #

i have a question, the small little hologram on the back of the card is that in the form of a stanley cup or is it just foil etched into the card? i got a case of these cards years ago and i just went through them recently and one of the card has a big holo foil stuck to the back of the card. i didnt know if this was considered a printing error called the stanley err or if this was just some random sticker that stuck and ripped to the card

    • alwaysonthehunt April 9, 2014 at 7:01 pm #

They call it an error…its a printing defect.

  14. alwaysonthehunt June 19, 2014 at 7:58 pm #

I have a Paul Gillis bloody nose for sale.

  15. sapadwecpa July 16, 2014 at 2:31 pm #

You need to add # 541 with an incomplete n in ‘in’ on the rear. You list a hand-done n in ‘in’ on back and a corrected, printed.

After I originally commented I seem to have clicked
on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox
and now whenever a comment is added I receive 4 emails with the
same comment. Perhaps there is an easy method you can remove
    me from that service? Thanks!

  19. Chris Litsair February 22, 2015 at 10:14 pm #

I dont know if my last comment went through but I bought a bunch of cases and found some cards that were never cut right, and tons more errors that aren’t listed yet. I have a ton of packs to still open.

I have collected Hull for 20 years and have never ever seen a promo card without the blue line. Does it really exist?

  24. Kim Cefa December 20, 2015 at 5:07 am #

Does anyone have proof (image) that the Brett Hull Promo card exists with NO blue line at the top right?
Have been collecting Brett Hull for över 20 years and have never seen this card without the blue line.

  28. gwtusaary June 29, 2017 at 3:24 pm #

I noticed you have 385b Ceglarski/Lester Patrick listed with a blue K in PATRICK on front, number on back(R). I also have one with a blue K and NO number.

164c Sean Burke – Front of the card there’s a small O’ beside the Jersey Number, has anyone else seen this error?

  29. gwtusa October 28, 2017 at 10:35 am #

You have the 1990 Pro Set Hockey card 385b Ceglarski/Lester Patrick (blue K in PATRICK on front, number on back) listed, I also have the blue K in PATRICK without the number on back

      • gwtusa November 18, 2017 at 3:09 pm #

Dylan. The ‘Blue K’ variation exists with and without the number on back. I have both variations

  30. Thad Henry December 29, 2017 at 8:04 am #

First off love the list!! I see that a lot of people are updating you with posts, are you going to be updating the entire list with these? Also, some don’t have what was wrong, would like to know. Lastly, I have 2 to add as well. The Mario Lemieux #236 has an upside down back version as well as the regular, I have 91 regulars and only 5 upside downs right now. The other is Mario Lemieux #362 All-Star, there is a white dash beside his name on the back. Those I have 85 regular and 7 dashed ones. If you want scans just reply and let me know where to send them!!

Hi, who’s got pics of # 39 Maclellan green blotch and # 611 Blake double edge. See what’s look like. thanks

  32. Tim August 3, 2018 at 7:11 pm #

Recently came across a handful of these cards. And noticed five cards that are not on the list; all of which that have different jersey numbers listed on the front than the players sweater.
#465a Neil Wilkinson (jersey listed as 5)
#485a Wayne McBean (jersey listed as 6)
#495a David Shaw (jersey listed as 27)
#530a Aaron Broten (jersey listed as 21)
#560a Gord Donnelly (jersey listed as 34)

Hope this helps and adds to the list.

    • Dylan August 17, 2018 at 4:50 pm #

I believe these are uncorrected errors, no? If not, I’d love to see pics of the corrections. Thanks!

I have 3 Adam Oates #219 with Jeremy Roenick on front of the card.

    • Dylan February 5, 2019 at 7:00 am #

These are wrongback cards and fairly common for 1990 pro set issues.

  34. James D McVay August 20, 2019 at 8:21 pm #

Your missing the Mike Modano #142 with the Pro Set and North Star symbol city off and a red stripe across the bottom.

    • Dylan December 9, 2019 at 5:43 pm #

No, I am not. This is a miscut card and does not meet the requirements for inclusion in a master set. Every card produced to can be found ion a huge variety of miscuts and production/printing flaws, far too many for anyone to own every one of.

  35. gwtusa January 10, 2023 at 11:26 am #

On the 1990-91 Pro Set Hockey Errors & Variation List you have the “385b Ceglarski/Lester Patrick (blue K in PATRICK on front, number on back)(R)”. I have a 385 Lester Patrick card with the Blue K on front with NO number on back.
